Carouge Museum
Place de Sardaigne 2 The Carouge Museum is housed in a beautiful residence built for a master watchmaker around 1789 in the Louis XVI style. Its typical Sardinian garden makes it a pleasant destination for a stroll in a remarkably well-preserved district enlivened by numerous handicraft shops. The permanent collections, which may be viewed on request, consist mainly of earthenware produced by the Carouge factory between 1810 and 1930, Noverraz Art Deco ceramic made between 1930 and 1960, and various works by contemporary ceramics artists. The museum’s collections also include works by several Carouge artists of the 20th century. The museum is open only during the four temporary exhibitions presented every year. |
