Russian Orthodox Church

Russian Orthodox Church

The Russian Orthdox church is a shining masterpiece of the Byzantine-Moscovite style.
Its extraordinary golden onion domes sparkle in the upper part of the city.

In 1859, the Russian Orthodox community of Geneva was given a permit to build this church after Anna Feodorovna Constancia, Tsar Alexandre the first’s sister-in-law, promised financial support. The church, situated in the upper part of the Eaux-Vives district, is built on the ancient site of a Benedictine priory and is one of the most beautiful buildings in Geneva. This shiny landmark can be seen from miles away.
