This idyllic site above Lake Geneva is part of the Swiss National Museum, located in the French speaking part of the country. The castle, built in 1730, has accommodated illustrious guests, such as Voltaire and Napoleon Bonaparte. The main exhibition is a fascinating tour from the 17th century to our time, highlighting Switzerland on the move. Temporary exhibitions showcase arts, culture and Swiss society. The castle’s kitchen garden is of special interest: a living collection of about a hundred varieties of ancient fruits and vegetables are grown there. This garden of yesteryear can be visited all year round.
